MEDIA STATEMENT
7 February 2026
From the Board of Directors, St Maurice Aged Care
To the Coptic Orthodox Diocese of Sydney
HG Bishop Daniel and V. Rev Fr Joshua Tadros
The Board of Directors of St Maurice Aged Care (SMAC) advises the Coptic Orthodox Diocese of Sydney,
that Contracts have been exchanged, where SMAC has purchased, with a delayed Settlement the Blacktown Site designated for St Maurice Aged Care Village.
The project will include a modern aged care facility together with assisted-living and independent-living accommodation, comprising studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom units.
SMAC is a registered Australian not-for-profit organisation and accredited aged care provider, dedicated to serving the elderly with dignity, compassion, and excellence in accordance with the values and pastoral mission of the Coptic Orthodox Church.
Securing ownership marks a significant milestone. It is now essential that construction commence without delay to meet the growing needs of our community.
The Board is committed to progressing the project with urgency and diligence, ensuring the future St Maurice Aged Care Village becomes a place of safety, high-quality care, and respect for our seniors.
To achieve this, and in addition to the State Government grant, a coordinated fundraising effort must begin immediately. The project’s success depends on the support of clergy, parishioners, families, and benefactors, whose collective contribution will stand as a shared expression of faith through service.
The Board respectfully seeks the Diocese’s continued spiritual leadership and encouragement of the faithful, and calls upon the community to unite in generosity, prayer, and practical support so that construction may proceed without interruption.
With God’s grace, St Maurice Aged Care will be realised swiftly and faithfully for the benefit of current and future generations.
